Reading & Writing
We use SuperKids for reading and writing in grades K-2. SuperKids is a deliberate text approach built on systematic phonics that balances all five essential elements of reading and integrates reading, writing, spelling and grammar.
Grades 3-5 use Lucy Calkins and Texas Treasures for reading and writing.
Envision Math is used for grades K-6. Envision is organized into clusters of connected topics and lessons. Students learn to see relationships, ask questions and try different approaches.
K-6 students use STEMscopes for Science. This curriculum provides lots of hands-on exploration.
Social Studies is integrated into the day in a variety of ways; different grades use different materials to teach the TEKS.
At High Point Academy our elementary students experience a lot of movement throughout the day. They have “specials” every day on a rotating basis.
Dance or PE, and Recess
Elementary students also have the choice of dance or PE daily and have one to two recess times.
