All Students

Reading & Writing

K-2
We use SuperKids for reading and writing in grades K-2. SuperKids is a deliberate text approach built on systematic phonics that balances all five essential elements of reading and integrates reading, writing, spelling and grammar.

3-5
Grades 3-5 use Lucy Calkins and Texas Treasures for reading and writing.

All Students

Mathematics

K-6
Envision Math is used for grades K-6. Envision is organized into clusters of connected topics and lessons. Students learn to see relationships, ask questions and try different approaches.

Science

K-6 students use STEMscopes for Science. This curriculum provides lots of hands-on exploration.

Social Studies

Social Studies is integrated into the day in a variety of ways; different grades use different materials to teach the TEKS.

K-6

Specials-Elementary

At High Point Academy our elementary students experience a lot of movement throughout the day. They have “specials” every day on a rotating basis.

ALL ELEMENTARY
Dance or PE, and Recess
Elementary students also have the choice of dance or PE daily and have one to two recess times.

K & 1
Art, Music, Theatre, American Sign Language & iPads
Kindergarten and first grade rotate through art, music, theatre, American Sign Language, and iPads weekly.

2-5
Art, Music, Theatre, American Sign Language, Piano
2nd-5th graders rotate through art, music, theatre, ASL, and Piano.

2-6
Piano
Every student in 2nd-6th grade takes keyboarding. Students follow the Diamond Piano Method, a self-paced piano curriculum ranging from the basics through college level.

iDiscover

Instead of ASL, 6th graders take iDiscover, a specially designed class that focuses on discovery, invention, innovation, growth mindset, brain balancing, etc.

All Students

Fine Arts

K-12 perform concerts or shows at least once and year and most once a semester. Secondary students perform a musical each year and have done Bugsy Malone Jr., Beauty and the Best Jr., and Bye Bye Birdie.

Beginning in Middle School students have the opportunity to prefect their skills and talents in certain electives by focusing on one or more fine arts. Some of the fine arts offered to Middle and High School students are:

  • Art

  • Choir

  • Theatre

  • Dance

  • Musical Theatre

  • Photography

  • Piano

  • Drum Line

ART


Art students have exhibits at the Fort Worth Stock Show and compete with TCAF/CSAF.

CHOIR


Choir students can compete in TMEA as well TCAF/CSAF competitions. Choir students have also competed at Sandy Lake and in San Antonio at Fiesta Texas.

DANCE


Dance students may audition for Senior or Junior Dance Company and compete in various TCAF and other competitions.

All Students

Technology

Kindergarten and 1st Grade utilize iPads weekly.

Middle School and High School students are also exposed to different technology classes such as:

  • Cyber Citizenship

  • Tech Apps

  • Principles of Info Tech

  • Principles of AV Tech

  • Graphic Design

  • Digital Media

Secondary students use state-adopted curriculum from publishers such as McGraw Hill or Pearson for all core subjects and are 1:1 with technology. Teachers and students utilize Google Classroom for interactive lessons and assignments.

Athletics

HPA has several athletic opportunities for students. Elementary students participate in either PE or Dance daily. Middle School and High School have the opportunity to participate in team sports.

We offer:

  • Cross Country

  • Volleyball

  • Basketball

  • Cheerleading

  • Soccer

  • Track

  • Golf

  • Lacrosse

Our teams compete with other charter and private schools in TCAF/CSAF leagues.

Middle School and High School

Student Leadership Council & National Honors

Students have the option to participate in the Student Leadership Council (SLC) to enhance their leadership skills and serve others. HPA also has chapters of NHS and NJHS for students with outstanding grades who wish to have a more active role in providing leadership and service to the school and community.

High School

Graduate Endorsements & Dual Credit

High School students are able to graduate with multiple endorsements due to the high rigor and extended day provided by High Point Academy. Every student will graduate with the Multidisciplinary Endorsement, with the option to include STEM, Business and Industry, or Arts and Humanities Endorsements.

Dual Credit classes are offered through a partnership with Texas Wesleyan for Juniors and Seniors.
