Captain's Log
Greetings Parents and Guardians,
Has your child mentioned RAZ kids? This is an online reading program that our students really enjoy! They can earn points based on books they read. We are trying to get every student their log in so that they use this program not only at school, but at home also. Reading is so important. Just 20 minutes a day will build fluency, comprehension, help with oral language development, and increase vocabulary! The benefits are endless. The trick is finding books that your child is interested in and that can take time, but don't give up! You will be hearing a lot more about RAZ kids.
Students and parents have a long weekend next weekend, but teachers don't. Our teachers will be working Friday and have been setting up parent conferences. Please reach out to your child's teacher to get one scheduled.
Kinder-2nd grade parents be on the lookout for a summary sheet about your child's MClass assessment results. Teachers will be sending these home around the middle of the week. This will provide you with some good information about their reading strengths and weaknesses.
It's time for the day the kids get ALL excited about! Pajamas for paper! This Wednesday students can wear appropriate pajamas to school if they bring a ream of paper!
Calling all 5th Grade Heroes! If you want to participate in Hero Quest, a new after school club, please get those permission slips turned in so you can attend the first meeting Tuesday, October 11th! Mr. Hudson and Ms. G will be leading this fun, interactive club that covers all academic subjects and helps kids become critical thinkers. We are starting with our 5th graders and will extend it later as we see how things go!
I am super excited to announce our 1st ever ART-A-PALOOZA. This will be for the students on our half day, October 14th. Their morning will be filled with super fun art activities. Kids are dismissed at noon!
Our Fall Festival is coming at the end of the month and that means we are collecting candy!! If you can, please send candy to the school with your kids. This will be given out at our FALL Festival, Friday, October 28th.
