Dear High Point Family, As our health staff
continue to monitor symptoms and illness at each campus, I am requesting that families pay close attention to their students and any/all symptoms of illness they may be currently experiencing. Here is a list of symptoms to help in evaluating whether an individual has symptoms consistent with COVID:
Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
Loss of taste or smell
Cough
Difficulty breathing
Shortness of breath
Fatigue
Headache
Stomachache
Chills
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Shaking or exaggerated shivering
Significant muscle pain or ache
Diarrhea
Vomiting or Nausea
PLEASE NOTE: Individuals are presumed infectious at least two days prior to symptom onset or, in the case of asymptomatic individuals who are lab-confirmed with COVID-19, two days prior to the confirming lab test.
Any individuals who themselves either: (a) are test-confirmed to have COVID-19; or (b) experience the symptoms of COVID-19 (listed above) MUST STAY AT HOME FOR 10 DAYS (throughout the infection period), and cannot return to campus until the individual is screened to determine if any of the below conditions for campus re-entry have been met.
Additionally, according to our "Return to In-Person Instruction" guidance document, if someone in the household tests positive for COVID, the students must quarantine for 10 days. The individual may NOT return to campus or participate in any activities until 10 calendar days have passed from symptom onset, AND improvement in symptoms, AND at least 24 hours have passed with no fever, without the use of fever-reducing medication. If your student has been identified as a close contact to someone who is COVID-positive or if someone in the household is COVID-positive, please follow the established protocol outlined above in order to help all High Point campuses do their best to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and their families.
I appreciate your attention to this matter. Thank you for sharing your student(s) with us.
