Dear High Point Academy SFW Elementary K – 6th Grade Parent/Guardian,
As you are well aware, this school year has been challenging in a number of ways. Parents, students and teachers alike have shown great flexibility in conquering COVID-related quarantines, closures and distance learning days. Our teachers are managing both in-person learning and distance learning students, as well as covering for their colleagues who may be out due to illness, quarantine or COVID exposure. High Point campuses are consistently experiencing a lack of substitute teachers, which adds additional duties and responsibilities to our already burdened teachers and staff as they scramble to cover classes for absent colleagues. It is safe to say that the stress of the past nine months has taken a toll on all of us.
With this in mind and in an effort to mitigate our shortage of substitutes, I am writing to inform you that all K – 6th grade students at our elementary campuses will be distance learning at least one day per month for the rest of the school year. Below are the dates for the Elementary Campus Distance Learning Days:
Tuesday, January 19, 2021
Friday, February 12, 2021
Monday, March 22, 2021
Friday, April 16, 2021
We have intentionally chosen these dates so that they coincide with holiday weekends in order to give an elongated timeframe for teachers and students. It is my hope that this action plan will alleviate some of the stress and strain that all of us are experiencing. It is also very important to note that this action only impacts our elementary grade levels (K-6th) and has no bearing on the Middle School/High School campus schedule and/or students.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing your student(s) with us. I know you have a choice in education and I appreciate the trust and confidence you have placed in High Point Academy. Take care, be safe and stay well,
