Running Club, Living Wax Museum, and Purple Out
Good Afternoon Parents & Guardians, It has been so great being back at school and hearing about our students wonderful adventures over the Winter Break. I wanted to go ahead and send some information about Monday, our "Purple Out" day and RUNNING CLUB! Purple Out Day! To support our local college team playing in the National Championship Football game on Monday night we are having a "Purple Out" Day! Students can wear a purple shirt and jeans to show their support for the TCU Horned Frogs! Anything purple will be fine to wear on Monday! If you don't have purple clothes, it's ok, just wear your normal school uniform! Running Club: Mrs. Ballard, our fabulous social worker/counselor has decided it's time for us to get our RUNNING CLUB back up and moving! This is so exciting. Please check out this link for more information and the permission slip! From Mrs. Ballard: Please join us on January 12th as we kickoff the return of Running Club each Thursday after school. We will be training for our first race, The Cowtown CALF, on February 25th, 2023. This race is optional to attend, but our school has received a partial grant for the entry fees, and you will only have to pay $10 to enter your student! **You do not have to enter this race to be a part of Running Club!** Here is the link to enter your student in the Cowtown CALF with our team: https://raceroster.com/events/2023/62502/the-cowtown-2023-school-team-registration/register?access_code=HIGHPOINT_ACCESS Here is the link to enter as a parent/responsible adult or staff to run with our team: https://raceroster.com/events/2023/62502/the-cowtown-2023-school-team-registration Would your business or family like to sponsor us? We are very excited to start getting ready for our Living Wax Museum. All 3rd-5th graders will be participating. Students will research a famous person for Black History Month. They will research their life, accomplishments, and contributions to society. This will mostly be an at-home project. The students will dress up as the person he/she reads about and present an oral report in the first-person form. On Monday, a packet will be sent home with all the information you will need. I will be sending a link to you all also. Please be on the lookout for this information as it involves parent signatures and work to be done at home. The Living Wax Museum will take place on February 23rd. The 3rd-grade classes presentations will be done in the 3rd-grade classrooms and the 4th and 5th classes will be presented in our halls with a time slot for parents and families to be able to come to see it in person. Can't wait to see our students come to life in the Living Wax Museum. More information about LWM will be sent home with students on Monday! Class pictures are available to purchase for $15. Your child's homeroom teacher has a few on hand, but can order more if she needs to. Please pay cash or write a check made out to Lifetouch.
