Good Afternoon High Point Families,

As our staff family finishes up final preparations for the start of onsite, in-person instruction on Monday, September 28th, it seems prudent to offer a refresher to our student families of important guidelines and information that will help facilitate a smooth return to in-person instruction. I would encourage all families to access our High Point Academy Healthy Start Plan (Updated 2/12/2021) in order to become familiar with precautionary measures and our planned response to COVID-19 (should it be necessary). This school policy gives the most complete information relative to health safety for the start of school.

Here are some important highlights:

  1. All parents are responsible for ensuring that a daily self-screening of their student(s) occurs prior to coming to school EACH DAY (Healthy Start Plan, pg. 4)

  2. Parents MUST CHECK student temperature daily PRIOR to coming to school Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;

  3. If student has a temp, keep student home

  4. Symptoms Screener:

  5. Temperature Check (temp must be less than 100.4°F)

  6. Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;

  7. Sore throat;

  8. New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);

  9. Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or

  10. New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.

  11. Known contact with someone who has a lab confirmed case of COVID-19

  12. If symptoms exist, please keep student(s) home as a precautionary measure.

  13. Face Coverings for grades 3rd-12th ARE REQUIRED and should cover the nose and mouth.

  14. Face coverings for grades Kindergarten-2nd are encouraged, but not required.

  15. Face covering options include:

  16. Non-medical grade disposable masks

  17. cloth face coverings (over nose and mouth)

  18. “full face” face shields to protect eyes, nose and mouth

  19. Masks are not required under face shields

  21. Face coverings are not allowed with inappropriate advertising, language or pictures (Healthy Start Plan, pg. 6).

  22. Arrival / Dismissal Precautionary Measures

  23. Parents are not allowed in the building and may only walk the student to the front door.

  24. Students will report straight to their classrooms in the morning.

  26. If it is necessary to pick a student up early, please contact the school office 10 minutes before you will arrive so that your student will be ready. ONLY ONE ADULT MAY ENTER to sign the student out and MUST WEAR A FACE MASK.

  27. Face coverings and social distancing are required for those who choose the walk-up dismissal line.
